IN THE NAME OF HASSAN is the story of a determined boy´s lost wanderings. It is Iraq in the early 2000s. Hassan wakes up under a vegetable stand to an ordinary day, when he needs to make a living with toil and cunning – food and maybe a few coins – for himself and his family. "Satan" approaches – perhaps he is among them already – but in the face of this threat the boy feels chosen. He has a special mission. Did he get it from Allah or from his surroundings? This real-life novel is partly based on several long and revealing conversations with Hassan´s uncle, who wants to retell parts of Hassan´s life story as authentically as possible. Some names and several elements of the story are fictitious. Hassan´s uncle has lived in Sweden for many years now. He wishes to remain anonymous.
