Finnish children’s literature expert Maria Lassén-Seger has edited the volume, which also includes the following five freshly written essays about the picture book medium in general and Finnish illustration for children in particular, including animation, written by specialists in the field: Maria Lassén-Seger: “The picture book - a medium open to possibilities”, Mia Österlund: “The picture book as an experiment kit - becoming-animal, gender trouble and breaking norms”, Elina Druker: “Diverse picture books in a varied media landscape”, Sara Ehnholm Hielm: “Making it possible”, Krister Uggeldahl: “Draw, snip, assemble, click - fifty years of Finland-Swedish children’s animation”. Editor-in-chef: Maria Lassén-Seger, PhD, is Head of the Arts and Humanities Library at Åbo Akademi University, Finland. She is a children's literature critic and lecturer, memeber of the ALMA-jury, author of Adventures into Otherness (2006), and co-editor of Celebrating a Displaced Hedgehog (2012) and Empowering Transformations: Mrs Pepperpot revisited (2014). Other authors are: Mia Österlund, Elina Druker, Sara Ehnholm Hielm and Krister Uggeldahl.
