“Berrington — the Spider who Wore Glasses” is the story of a bright young spider who struggles with his eyesight and gets bullied at school because he has trouble following the lessons. But, with the support of two good friends, he overcomes the problem of having a lazy eye and stands up to the bullies who have been teasing him. This is a light-hearted story of challenge, friendship and overcoming bullying; all told through the eyes of a young spider. “Berrington — the Spider who Wore Glasses” is a fun story for all kids, and particularly those who might be having a tricky time at school. It is ideal for children of any age, especially those up to the age of 10 or 11. About the author: Ben Lawrence is now a 12-year-old living in rural Shropshire in England. His main passions are football, motor sport and photography. Ben’s idea for “Berrington — the Spider who Wore Glasses” came from his own experience of being diagnosed with a lazy eye and needing to wear a patch when he was a youngster. Ben hopes that the Berrington book will encourage other children to go and have their eyes tested and have treatment for a lazy eye if they have one.
