A Vindication of the Rights of Woman: with Strictures on Political and Moral Subjects was written by Mary Wollstonecraft and is one of the earliest books of feminist philosophy. In her book, Wollstonecraft argues against those in the eighteenth century who did not believe women needed a rational education. Rather than just being ornaments or property, Wollstonecraft argues that women are human beings who deserve the same fundamental rights as men. Mary Wollstonecraft was a British writer, philosopher and advocate of women's righs. She is regarded as one of the most important feminist philosophers. During her brief career she wrote novels, treatises, a travel narrative, a history of the French Revolution, a conduct book, and a children's book.
