It is not necessary to have read the previous stories to enjoy this one. Once again, Burl experiences magnificent adventures against a colourful background, but to the whole the author has added philosophical and psychological observations that give this story a flavour seldom achieved in science fiction. Nightmare Planet was first published in Science Fiction Plus June 1953. Murray Leinster (1896-1975) was a pen name of William Fitzgerald Jenkins, an award-winning American writer of science fiction and alternate history. He wrote and published over 1,500 short stories and articles, 14 movie scripts, and hundreds of radio scripts and television plays.
